About ARBD [ more ]
- Too much alcohol, especially if associated with a diet deficient in Thiamin (B1).
- Can lead to irreversible brain Damage. The question of irreversible is still being challenged amongst health professionals.
- This dementia is preventable; if people don't drink to excess they don't get it.
- The most vulnerable parts of the brain are used for memory, planning, organising, judgment and social skills.
- If drinking stops there is a chance of some improvement.
- Taking thiamin appears to help prevent the condition worsening and some improvement to the condition
